Chicago could get something out of its veteran big.
Nikola Vucevic tabbed as top trade candidate for Bulls next season originally appeared on The Sporting News
The Chicago Bulls have been no strangers to making big deals, and another could soon be coming.
Over the past few years, the Bulls have been one of the most mediocre teams in the NBA. With only one playoff appearance to show for their work in the past half-decade, the Nikola Vucevic era has been filled with minor disappointments.
While there was a brief moment in the 2021-22 season where it seemed the Bulls had taken themselves out of mediocrity, their injury issues would soon push them back down to earth. The Bulls had tried to find the magic of that 2022 campaign in the years since, but last season’s March resurgence was perhaps the closest they’ve come to that feeling again.
With Matas Buzelis and Noa Essengue looking to spread their wings alongside Josh Giddey and Coby White, it might be time for the Bulls to fully move on from the previous era. Of course, Vucevic would be the key departure to truly signal a new era in Chicago.
As suggested by ClutchPoints’ Enzo Flojo, the Bulls could use a fresh start inside. As Vucevic enters the final season of his deal, there shouldn’t be too many issues for the Bulls as they look for a suitor.
While it could take some time to find the right team for Vucevic, there will surely be a squad that pops up at some point before next season’s trade deadline. It’d be ideal for the Bulls to cut ties with their former All-Star before the season begins, but if there’s anyone Chicago will be sending out next season, Vucevic is probably the safest bet.
