The Cleveland Browns could be looking for a potential replacement for a long-time veteran.
Browns veteran could be replaced after poor preseason performance vs. Panthers originally appeared on The Sporting News
The Cleveland Browns began their 2025 preseason with a bang, defeating the Carolina Panthers 30-10 to begin exhibition play. And while the story of the game was the debut of Shedeur Sanders, who threw two touchdown passes and made this quarterback competition much more interesting, another position may have to have a more serious position battle.
Dustin Hopkins was already on thin ice with Browns fans. He went 18-of-27 on field goals in 2024, and 17-of-20 on extra points. Many were hoping Cleveland would have a real kicker competition in training camp and preseason, but Hopkins was the only kicker to take the field for field goals and extra points on Friday, and he missed an extra point.
With two preseason games left, and just under a month until the regular season starts, the Browns still have time to find a new kicker if Hopkins' struggles continue. The likes of Cade York, Eddie Pineiro, and Michael Badgley are all available.
