Davante Adams will suit up for his fourth NFL team for the 2025-26 season. After spending the first eight years of his career with the Green Bay Packers, Adams spent three, interesting years between the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets.
Adams, 32, played just three games with the Raiders in 2024 before being traded to the Jets for a conditional third-round draft pick. While Adams' reunion with former Packers teammate, Aaron Rodgers seemed destined for success, the Jets season never really took off, leaving an unwarranted blemish on Adams' tenure with the AFC East Jets.
Sean McVay's Powerful Gesture Helps Rams Players Welcome Davante Adams
However, Adams found himself a new home this offseason, signing a two-year $44 million contract with the Los Angeles Rams. Adams will now catch passes from another Super Bowl winning quarterback, in Matthew Stafford.
With Adams coming to the Rams as the franchise's new No. 1 wide receiver, filling the shoes of fan and team-favorite, Cooper Kupp, head coach, Sean McVay wanted to make sure Adams received a proper welcome from his new team.
As per Adams, what McVay did was seen as "the coolest thing in the world".
McVay reportedly gathered the entire Rams roster to show them tape of Adams from the end of the 2024-25 NFL season.
Adams spoke on his reaction, as well as his new teammates' reactions, during an appearance on "the pivot" podcast this week with former NFL players Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor, and Channing Crowder.
Davante Adams is replacing a @rams’ legend in Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp. So, this offseason Sean McVay reviewed @taeadams clips from the end of last season to show the entire team who they’d gotten in their new weapon & teammate.

The star receiver said, “It was the coolest… pic.twitter.com/pBRjDchP7f
"I thought it was the coolest thing in the world. It was so different from what you see in most buildings," Adams said.
Adams also spoke on the perception that he's starting to fall off, and that even fellow NFL players may not realize how much he has left in the tank.
"People start to think I'm falling, or I'm not the same player, so it's one thing to have Davante Adams come in the building, and everybody thinks they know who the guys is, but it's different when they show you what he just did. This was the last four games of last year."
Adams went on to reveal the reactions of some of his teammates and how he believes this gesture by McVay will go a long way toward Adams' new teammates accepting him.
"You could see it in the team's face...Their guy was Cooper (Kupp), but not that they would have anything against me, but at the end of the day it just helps the mending process and to know the guys and just be around them," Adams said.
Adams brings 957 receptions, 11,844 receiving yards, and 103 receiving touchdowns in his career to the Rams. His receiving yards are good for No. 33 on the all-time list as well as No. 5 amongst active players.
