She couldn't contain herself.
Fever Coach Stephanie White Loses Her Composure in Heated Moment With Referee originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
It was a tough first half for the Indiana Fever on Tuesday night as they battled the Los Angeles Sparks in a road matchup at Crypto.com Arena. The Fever, who are missing the services of Caitlin Clark for an eighth straight game due to a lingering right groin injury, have been made to work hard for what they’re hoping will be their sixth consecutive win.
The Sparks are anything but pushovers, though, and they proved to be a significant challenge for Indiana. As of writing, L.A. is up, 54-43 at the half.
Fever Coach Stephanie White Loses Her Cool
At one point in the first half, emotions boiled over for Fever head coach Stephanie White. The veteran shot-caller was arguing with a referee over a call that White clearly disagreed with.
In the video below, White can be seen screaming in the ref’s face during a dead-ball situation.

The game official did not seem very calm, either. She, too, had something to say to White before walking away. Given the intensity of the moment, it would not be a surprise if the ref warned White over her behavior.
White did not chase the ref as the latter walked away. This is a good thing because a technical foul could have been on the way had she done so.
White’s Criticism of WNBA Referees
White has been vocal about her opinion on the quality of officiating in the league. She previously revealed that the WNBA had fined her, presumably for her unfiltered tirade against the game officials following a controversial loss to the New York Liberty earlier in the season.
White doubled down on her criticism in a recent interview on ESPN. She implied that the referees need to level up as well, as the quality of basketball in the league continues to see significant growth.
White issued her recent statement in a much calmer demeanor, which isn’t likely to get her in trouble with the league again. Nevertheless, she still made sure to get her message across.
She will, however, need to work hard to keep her cool on Tuesday night. She’s already had a run-in with the game official, and it would not be surprising if she gets hit with a technical foul if she has another heated confrontation.
