The Houston Astros have one of the most injured rosters in baseball. But, over the last few weeks, the team has gradually gotten healthier. From the return of Jeremy Pena to the good news on Yordan Alvarez, the team is healing with time.
In the latest bit of good news for the Astros, starting pitcher Spencer Arrighetti is set to make his return to the mound for the first time since April 5th, as the team is activating him off the injured list, according to an announcement from the team.

To make room for the 26-year-old starter, 25-year-old A.J. Blubaugh, who just pitched a five-inning and two-run outing against the Miami Marlins to earn his first win in his career, is being optioned down to Triple-A.
Arrighetti, in his two starts this season before injury, allowed one run in six innings of work against the New York Mets in a win, and allowed five runs in 3.2 innings against the Minnesota Twins in a loss.
He's been out for a while with a thumb injury, and this activation has been known for some time. But, to have this officially come through is a great step towards the team getting back to close to full strength.

While there are still a lot of players working their way back from injury, Arrighetti's return to the rotation is huge. With Framber Valdez and Hunter Brown as the team's 1-2 punch, figuring out their third starter for a postseason series is imperative.
Over the next two months, Arrighetti will "try out" for the team's number-three starter role. He's a younger pitcher who's shown some flashes of dominance in his career, and this opportunity is a great one to earn a solid role in the rotation come October.
His first test will be in the series finale against the Marlins, as the Astros go for the sweep over a team that just swept the New York Yankees over the weekend.
