The Toronto Blue Jays have one of the best records in MLB, while the Colorado Rockies are at the bottom of the standings among all teams in the big leagues.
That disparity was evident in how the series opener between these teams from opposite ends of the spectrum played out Monday night, as Bo Bichette and the Blue Jays pummeled Colorado at Coors Field in Denver to the tune of a 15-1 score.
Bichette's bat was smoking against the Rockies, as he went 3-for-6. He had two home runs and six RBIs without getting struck out.
The 27-year-old shortstop set the tone for what would become an explosive night for Toronto's offense as his single in the first inning drove in Nathan Lukes for the game's first run. Bichette extended the Blue Jays' lead to nine runs in the third inning with a two-run dinger.
Through just the first three innings of the contest, every Blue Jays hitter already had at least a hit, as noted by StatMuse.
Bichette went deep again in the seventh frame to add three more runs to the board for Toronto, which improved to 66-48 after crushing the Rockies.

When it was all said and done, the Blue Jays had tallied a total of 25 hits to go with 15 runs scored, which were both season-highs for the club.

Bichette acknowledged his team's incredible showing in Mile High City, as he offered his thoughts on his team after the game.
“This is just a great group. It’s a lot of guys willing to do whatever it takes to win,” Bichette said (h/t Keegan Matheson of MLB.com). “That rubs off on everybody and that’s my only focus coming to the field, how I can help the team win. It seems to be everybody else’s as well. It’s just a great group to be a part of.”
Apart from Bichette, outfielders Daulton Varsho and Davis Schneider shined at the plate as well. Varsho went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs, while Schneider was 2-for-5 with two runs plated. On the mound, Eric Lauer kept the Rockies at bay with six innings of one-run ball.
Bo Bichette has been on fire since the MLB All-Star break
Bichette has been phenomenal since the start of the second half of the season. Following the All-Star break, he has hit .385/.422/.603 with three home runs and 21 RBIs.
He appears to be at his best of late when there's a chance to drive in multiple runs, as evidenced by his .333 batting average with runners in scoring position.
