The insider isn't backing down on his Giannis Antetokounmpo rumors.
Shams Charania confident in Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo reporting originally appeared on The Sporting News
There's only one reporter around the NBA who continues to suggest that Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo could be on his way out sometime in the near future.
That's none other than Shams Charania of ESPN. Charania is one of the best in the business and is often right, but this report seems a bit different.
Antetokounmpo has been in trade rumors for the past few years, typically only reported by ESPN.
Instead of being traded, the network continues to have segments about him hypothetically being traded. Nothing has suggested that Antetokounmpo wants to leave, but perhaps Charania knows something that nobody else does.
The Bucks don't seem too worried about it, with some saying they’ve laughed about it, and Antetokounmpo has responded in other ways, too, noting that he misses Adrian Wojnarowski, who was once in the same role that Charania is at ESPN.
Perhaps that's made Charania double down on some of his takes, and he did that again on Monday. Not only did he double down on that, but he tripled down on it in an appearance with ESPN Milwaukee.
He noted that his job is to report, and that he's trying to report things accurately and transparently.
"My job is to report, and that's all I'm focused on. Accurate, transparent, fair, responsible reporting. This is something I've definitely been tracking for a while. If and when Giannis Antetokounmpo hits the market and is moved, it would obviously be monumental for every team, every person, everyone around the NBA,” he said.
"There's nothing set in stone from my conversations, really, on both sides, that he is for sure staying or deciding to leave."
There's also a possibility that whoever is giving him this information is a great source, but just not right in this scenario.
Perhaps he's right and something will change over the next few weeks, but that doesn't seem likely as of now.
