The Tigers have fallen behind in the race for MLB's best record, one game in the win column behind the Milwaukee Brewers as the second half continued.
A rough start to the second half has given way to Tigers wins in five of their last six games with manager AJ Hinch's team ahead of the Cleveland Guardians by eight full games heading into Sunday night's road action.
The Tigers continued to struggle at the plate as they had no runs on the board heading into the bottom of the fourth inning in Philly.
