Hingham track and field teams show depth and energy in big wins

The Harbormen will be back on the track Wednesday, April 29 against Whitman-Hanson for their first home meet of the season.

Hingham High track and field rose to the moment, and they owned it.

In a meet that said everything about this program, the girls powered past Silver Lake 75–61 nearly matching the boys score of 76-60 for a shared victorious moment across the program. The boys improved to 2-0 with the road victory on April 16. It was the first win of the year for the Harborwomen, who lost to Plymouth North in the other.

You could feel it all afternoon; energy, depth, and a real belief in each other. The Harborwomen ran, jumped, and threw for 52 personal bests. Every event. Every point earned. Maddie Everett led with a PR win in the 400m hurdles. Lindsey McManus captured the 100m, with Ellie Truong adding a strong third.

The distance runners dominated in their events. Maggie Towle won the mile, with Alexandra Mildrum capturing third. The 800m was a clean sweep. Meghan Koenen first with a PR time, backed by Caroline MacDonald and Ally Mildrum.

Sprints and relays also brought a spark to the meet. The 4x100 (Lindsey McManus, Ellie Bellew, Martina Misdea, Ellie Truong) took first. The 200m was also a full sweep with Elliana Bellew leading, and Lila Brockney and Haley Nieme right behind. The 4x400 closed the meet in style as Caroline MacDonald, Caroline Newth, Maddie Everett, and Maggie Towle took first.

Hingham girls track and field got in the win column last week with a win over Silver Lake.

Field events delivered key points across the board. Zoe Schulze won javelin with strong support from Mary Zandbergen. Schulze also captured second in discus with Sophie Peregrine in third. Gabriella Ferrara added third-place points in shot, and Kali Benham took second in triple jump. In high jump, Lindsey McManus placed second, while Ellie Truong, Lane Collins, and Dee Sweeney tied for third.

Good day to be a Harborman

The 4x100 relay team of Jack Griffiths, Tristan Campbell, JJ Johnson and Lundon Jackson raced to a first-place finish.
