LB Denzel Perryman was arrested on Friday in Los Angeles on a felony gun charge. However, after this weekend, it looks like no legal action will come against him.

Again according to TMZ Sports, the county’s district attorney in Los Angeles will not be pursuing charges against Perryman, with it currently being unknown why he won’t be. The site also got a quote from Perryman’s representation that also confirmed the development that his client won’t be charged.

“The charges have been dismissed,” Perryman’s agent said to TMZ Sports. “At this time, there’s no additional comment, but we’re grateful for everyone’s patience throughout the process.”

Three days ago, Perryman, who was en route to a gun range, was taken in by police after a search of his vehicle found five guns in total, three being handguns and two being a pair of illegal, non-compliant assault rifles in the state of California. He was booked in the local jail in Los Angeles before his eventual release with him previously set to be in court tomorrow on Tuesday. However, the county will reportedly not be going through with that now.

Perryman is entering his eleventh season in the NFL. It will be his second with the LA Chargers after previously being with the franchise, upon being drafted by them as a second rounder, from 2015 to 2020, including the span during the team’s transition from San Diego to Los Angeles. His other three seasons were spent with the Las Vegas Raiders for two years, with one leading to his lone selection as a Pro Bowler in 2021, and the Houston Texans for one.

During his decade in the league, Perryman has posted 717 tackles, 53 being for loss, with 14 deflections, 7.5 sacks, five interceptions, and four forced fumbles with three recoveries. That includes 55 tackles, a pair being for loss, with a sack last season in his return to the Chargers’ defense, which was the best in points allowed by giving up just 17.7 points per game.

This could have been a notable, off-field legal issue for Perryman coming into the season. Now, though, with this reporting, his focus seems like it can now return to the Chargers’ training camp ahead of the start of their season one month from tomorrow against Kansas City.
