Deniz Undav has said he is doing his best to support German national team and VfB Stuttgart attacking partner Nick Woltemade in connection with a potential move to Bayern Munich.
Woltemade has said he would like to leave Stuttgart for Munich after just one year, despite a contract until 2028. Stuttgart have rejected two Munich offers without talks.
The transfer window remains open, Woltemade is in pre-season training with Stuttgart, and Undav told Monday's edition of Kicker sports magazine that he and the team are supporting Woltemade.
"All of us want to help him stay clear in his head. It is absolutely understandable that a player is preoccupied when Bayern are calling," Undav said.
Woltemade acted professionally at last week's training camp in Bavaria but he did appear affected by the transfer issue.
Undav said he told Woltemade before the camp "he shouldn't read so much, not look left or right and also not consider whether the fans still like him. He shouldn't think too much. He must never forget that we are backing him even if he should leave the club."
Undav added that he was meanwhile not thinking about leaving the German Cup winners Stuttgart because "I love VfB, fully identify with the club and the fans. I love being here and to play great football.
"You never know what the future holds but I know that I am happy. And when I am happy it is difficult to move me somewhere else," he said.
Undav said he hopes to be better again in the upcoming season than in the past campaign where he managed only nine goals and three assists and was handicapped by injury.
"That was poor by my standard," he said, aiming for "a double-digit number of goals again, and many, many more assists."
