CHAN 2024: "Nothing is over yet" for Burkina Faso
Defeated 2-0 by Tanzania in the CHAN 2024 opener, the local Stallions stumbled out of the gate. But at the press conference, Burkina Faso's head coach Issa Balboné refused to write off the competition just yet.
No sugarcoating from the Burkina Faso manager in front of the journalists:
We weren’t up to the occasion. That’s football. Tanzania took advantage of our weaknesses. We were too timid up front.
Issa Balboné, however, refused to hide behind circumstances. The hostile atmosphere?
We’ve been playing away from home for five years now. That’s not an issue. The travel fatigue? Yes, we arrived late. But we have to deal with it.
While he admitted that Tanzania was more clinical, he refused to give up on the tournament. "Nothing is lost yet. We’ll come back stronger," he promised.
