Patrick Mahomes, Wife Brittany Mahomes' Soccer Club Announces $600,000 Trade originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Kansas City Current, the NWSL team co-owned by Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany Mahomes, made a bold move on Friday to further bolster its roster and championship dreams.
In an announcement on social media, the Current revealed their trade for Utah Royals star and U.S. Women's National Team forward Ally Sentnor.
"BLOCKBUSTER MOVE FOR A TOP TALENT," the Kansas City soccer club wrote. "The Current acquires rising @uswnt star @allysentnor through the 2026 season in exchange for intraleague transfer funds."
According to the NWSL and an ESPN report, the Current will send a record-setting $600,000 in intraleague transfer funds to the Royals in exchange for Sentnor.
It is interesting to note, however, that the Current will pay the fee over three years:
- $300,000 upon completion of the deal
- $200,000 in 2026
- $100,000 in 2027
There is also a "conditional $100,000 and an additional sell-on clause for any future transfer," according to the Royals. The sell-on clause is reportedly set at 20%, per ESPN.
Brittany Mahomes, for her part, liked the NWSL's post about the trade and even shared it on her Instagram Stories. The mother of three is one of the co-founders of the club, along with business moguls and partners Angie Long and Chris Long. Patrick Mahomes joined the ownership group in 2022.

Who Is New Current Star Ally Sentnor?
Sure enough, the Current have a good reason for paying a massive amount of money to acquire Sentnor.
Sentnor, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NWSL Draft, has started in all 34 matches she has played for the Royals. She has recorded four goals and five assists during that span, all while taking up different roles in the front line.
As mentioned, Sentnor is also a member of the USWNT, having already earned 12 caps with four goals and two assists. In early June, as the USA played Jamaica in a friendly, Sentnor scored two goals to lead the team to a 4-0 victory.
Sentnor, who starred for UNC before going pro, is only 21 years old. She will be under contract with the Current until 2026.
Current Get Big Boost With Sentnor Addition
Sentnor's addition is certainly a major boost to a Current team that is looking to protect its lead at the top of the NWSL table and eventually contend for the title.
Kansas City sits at the top of the standings with 34 points after 14 matches played, nine points clear of No. 2 Orlando Pride.
While the Current appear to be on their way to running away with the NWSL Shield — given to the team with the best regular-season record based on points — the NWSL playoffs are a different matter.
Sure enough, having a reliable weapon like Sentnor increases the Current's chances of dominating come the do-or-die postseason games.
