The Sacramento Kings entered the offseason with some major questions regarding the future of their franchise.

Of course, the Kings traded star point guard De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs at the trade deadline last season and because of this, many around the NBA expected them to begin a rebuild this offseason.

Instead, Sacramento has elected to keep their core of Domantas Sabonis, DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine together to chase a playoff spot in the Western Conference next season.

So far this offseason, the Kings have added Dennis Schroder, Nique Clifford and Maxime Raynaud to their roster and they have also been linked to a young forward from the Golden State Warriors.

That player is Jonathan Kuminga, who is currently a restricted free agent and may be on the move this summer after falling out of Steve Kerr’s rotation last season in Golden State.

For the Kings to land Kuminga they will have to pull off a sign-and-trade with the Warriors, which has not gone well for them thus far as Golden State is interested in two of their young players.

Despite this, The Sacramento Bee’s Jason Anderson reported that the Kings have been unwilling to include either Keegan Murray or Keon Ellis in trade talks for Kuminga.

This is a massive report by Anderson and one that is not a complete surprise as both Murray and Ellis are key pieces of the Kings’ future.

While that may be the case, the Warriors have reportedly asked for at least one of them in trade talks that would send Kuminga to Sacramento and if the Kings are unwilling to move one of them, they may not be able to land the young forward.

Of course, it has been reported that the Kings have offered Devin Carter, Dario Saric and Malik Monk in trade talks for Kuminga but have been turned down by the Warriors thus far.

Because of this, the Kings may have to include one of their young players in a potential trade for Kuminga unless the Warriors lower their asking price for him as the offseason enters August.
