The Los Angeles Rams feature one of the league's most intriguing wide receiver duos. Puka Nacua will soon team with Davante Adams in a live game -- with no thought of Terry McLaurin joining.
Or could L.A. capitalize on McLaurin's trade request?
One Rams defender delivered a cryptic message amid the drama surrounding the Washington Commanders wide receiver. McLaurin is requesting a departure from the only franchise he's played for. All amid his current contract dispute.
Now, his former Commanders teammate Kamren Curl chimed in. Curl only needed three words to draw the attention of both Rams and Commanders fans.
"Pull up 17," Curl posted on his X page.
The number 17 references McLaurin's number. Curl played with the WR1 from 2020 to 2023. McLaurin established himself as the Commanders' consistent 1,000-yard threat. He's entering the 2025 season with a streak of five consecutive seasons of surpassing the century mark. But now he could hit a six straight season elsewhere amid his trade demand.
But will general manager Les Snead and Curl's team entertain any idea of adding McLaurin? A lot of factors would need to be at play.
The biggest one is handing McLaurin a new contract, which sparked his reason for the trade request. He's on the final year of his current deal -- which is a $68.4 million extension he signed in the 2022 offseason.
Ironically, that was the same offseason that saw the Rams pay Cooper Kupp massively. Kupp agreed to a three-year, $80 million deal following his Super Bowl LVI performance. Kupp has since parted ways with the Rams and is now taking part in Seattle Seahawks training camp.
The Rams look content with adding another No. 17 to their WR lineup: Adams himself. L.A. also resigned Tutu Atwell to one more year worth $10 million. While McLaurin to the Rams sounds enticing for Curl, the likelihood of a trade is extremely slim at the moment.
