The Cincinnati Bengals typically don’t make many moves once training camp begins, but they’ve been unusually active over the past few days.

After finally agreeing to terms with first-round rookie Shemar Stewart, the team released running back Zack Moss on Wednesday. That move was followed by the signing of former first-round tight end Noah Fant on Thursday morning, giving quarterback Joe Burrow yet another high-volume weapon in one of the NFL’s most explosive offenses.

Shortly after agreeing to the deal with Fant, the Bengals made another move at the tight end position, waiving undrafted rookie Kole Taylor out of West Virginia.

The addition of Noah Fant bolsters an already solid tight end room that now includes Fant, Mike Gesicki, Drew Sample, and Tanner Hudson—each capable of contributing in a meaningful way. Erick All Jr. was placed on the PUP list last week and is currently expected to miss the 2025 season after suffering a torn ACL last year.

Fant spent the last three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks and recorded 500 receiving yards in 2024. While he has never reached 1,000 receiving yards in a season, he has also never finished with fewer than 400. He caught 14 touchdowns over his first four NFL seasons but has just one touchdown reception over the last two years in Seattle.

"He gives you even more flexibility," Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said. "You got a player that's really a plus player in both the run and the pass, and so at the point of attack, blocking, backside of blocking and protection can help you, but also really explosive as a receiver, great size, great explosiveness, really good hands, tough to bring down. I think that's another weapon, anytime we can add weapons like that and Erick All played that role for us last year as well. So, again, we really feel good about where our with our tight end room."

Taylor also addressed questions about potential playing time and how the team plans to utilize its deep tight end room — but for now, it’s not something people should read too much into this early in training camp.

"I wouldn't read anything into anything in terms of lineups," Taylor added "There's days where we have a plan on offense or defense of what it's going to be, and then all of a sudden the guys can be down for that practice, and it totally changes the plan, and now we're in a whole new plan."
