After Zach Allen's payday, who's the next DT set for huge deal?

Zach Allen's new contract sets the benchmark. Now, who will be the next DT to receive a new extension?

Zach Allen has signed a blockbuster four-year, $102 million extension with the Denver Broncos, which includes $69.5 million guaranteed, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Saturday.

Now, the NFL's defensive tackle market shifts towards other players potentially in line for lucrative deals. Allen's new contract sets the benchmark for interior defenders, making him the second-highest-paid DT in the league, just behind Milton Williams.

Last season, Allen recorded 8.5 sacks, 15 tackles for loss and 40 quarterback hits.

Looking ahead, we can expect Jalen Carter of the Philadelphia Eagles to be the next top defensive tackle set for a big extension. Carter earned second-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors last season, leading the Eagles in pressures (45), quarterback hits (16) and tackles for loss (12).

He won the Super Bowl last season and with his emerging dominance, he can get a deal near or above Allen's $25.5 million average yearly value.

Next up for a potential extension is Vita Vea of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Vea signed a four-year, $71 million extension in early 2022, with an average annual value of $17.75 million and over $14 million guaranteed.

Now 30, he faces rising cap hits approaching $22 million in 2025 and 2026, which will put increasing financial pressure on Tampa Bay. Given his importance as a run-stopper and pass rusher, the Bucs are likely to consider another extension or contract restructuring soon to manage cap space better.

Also in line for a potential extension is New York Jets' Quinnen Williams. He signed a four-year, $96 million contract extension before the 2023 season.

At 27, with standout pass-rush skills and strong run defense, Williams has become a critical piece for the Jets defense. With his contract set to run through the 2026 season, the Jets will likely start extension talks soon to secure one of their defensive cornerstones well before he reaches free agency.
