Most would agree that Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark is the most recognizable name in the WNBA today.
However, there is a select group of fans who don’t believe that to be the case, and Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has a painfully blunt message for them.
During the debut episode of her “Show Me Something” podcast, which she hosts with Bravo star West Wilson, Cunningham made it perfectly clear that she will not stand for anyone arguing that Clark is not the face of the WNBA, stating while there are other stars who deserve their flowers like three-time MVP A’ja Wilson, four-time All-Star Sabrina Ionescu, and five-time All-Star Napheesa Collier, their drawing power pales in comparison to Clark’s.
“It literally [expletive] me off when people are like, ‘She’s not the face of the league,’” Cunningham stated. “What? No, there’s really good, well-known people in our league. I’m not discrediting them; we have a lot of [expletive] in our league, like hell yeah to that — I’m all for that.
“But when people try to argue she’s not the face of our league or our league would be where we’re at without her, you’re dumb as [expletive]. You’re literally dumb as [expletive].”
This isn’t the first time Cunningham has stood up for Clark this season, though the last time was a bit more controversial.
During an 88-71 win over the Connecticut Sun on July 17, Cuningham came to Clark’s defense after she was poked in the eye by Sun guard Jacy Sheldon and shoved to the floor by Sun guard Marina Mabrey.
Things were HEATED between the Sun and Fever tonight 😳

Clark was assessed a technical for giving Sheldon a shove after the eye poke, while Sheldon was hit with a flagrant and Mabrey was slapped with a technical as well.
But Cunningham, seemingly not pleased with how the officials handled the incident, decided to up the stakes when she fouled Sheldon under the basket in the final minute of the game, inciting a benches-clearing brawl and drawing an ejection.
Fever fans showed their appreciation for Cunningham’s support by buying out all of her jerseys from the WNBA store.
