New Tua Tagovailoa Report Puts 31 NFL Teams on Notice

Tua Tagovailoa report spells trouble for rest of NFL

New Tua Tagovailoa Report Puts 31 NFL Teams on Notice originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

NFL training camp commenced in mid-July, providing fans with the first glimpse of their team's players since last season. Miami Dolphins rookies were required to report on July 15, while veterans were required to report on July 22.

Miami's regime under coach Mike McDaniel has shown streaks of high-level play, but it has not resulted in postseason success. A key factor is the health of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who has been diagnosed with three concussions over the past three seasons.

Now, the Dolphins have the opportunity to find their identity with a healthy roster entering the 2025 season, but they will have to do so without last season's team receptions leader, tight end Jonnu Smith, who was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason.

Meanwhile, Tagovailoa is reportedly bringing a level of play to training camp that is putting the rest of the league on notice.

On Wednesday, Omar Kelly, a Miami reporter who attended training camp, acknowledged the Dolphins QB's efficient performance.

"I’ve always been a fan of Tua Tagovailoa’s practices, but he’s turned up the volume on his consistency. He’s steady every single day," said Kelly. "You don’t see wasted throws. You don’t see incomplete passes. You don’t get a steady diet of check downs. It’s efficiency every single day."

In Tagovailoa's only healthy NFL season in 2023, he threw for 4,624 yards and 29 touchdowns with a 69.3% completion percentage, finishing as the league's passing leader that season. Miami finished 11-6 but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, in a wild-card game.
