Two teams have reportedly emerged as the top suitors from Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga this summer.
Two Teams Emerge as Top Suitors for Warriors' Jonathan Kuminga: Report originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Golden State Warriors have had an extremely quiet offseason thus far as they have not made any moves outside of the 2025 draft.
Of course, the Warriors are still awaiting a decision by restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga and while waiting, they have missed out on multiple free agent targets.
For Kuminga, his role with the Warriors next season is uncertain after he fell out of Steve Kerr’s rotation last season but with a lack of interest in him around the NBA, he may be back in Golden State next season.
While that could be the case, ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel reported on Monday that there are two likely suitors for Kuminga this offseason who could actually pull off a sign-and-trade for him from the Warriors.
The two teams Siegel mentioned in his report were the Chicago Bulls and Sacramento Kings, both of whom have been linked to Kuminga for most of the offseason.
“Out of the limited possibilities that remain for Kuminga and the Warriors this offseason, the easiest path to mutually splitting ways would be by way of a sign-and-trade with the Bulls,” Siegel wrote. “The Sacramento Kings have been at the forefront of Kuminga free agency and sign-and-trade discussions since the start of the offseason.”
It is clear that Siegel believes that the Bulls have the easiest path to land Kuminga this offseason from the Warriors but the Kings could also pull off a deal for him.
Of course, the Bulls are dealing with their own situation with restricted free agent Josh Giddey but if the two sides could come to an agreement, they could also go after Kuminga.
Sacramento was also named, though the Warriors have reportedly already turned down multiple trade offers the Kings have sent their way for Kuminga this offseason.
While both of these teams have been named as the likely trade suitors for the Warriors’ young forward, it would be a difficult trade for both franchises to pull off this summer.
