After spending a few months away from the Big 12 school due to health issues, Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders made his triumphant return to the team.

Sanders, 57, hosted a press conference at the university on Monday and revealed he battled and beat bladder cancer while recovering at his estate in Texas.

“I stared life in the face, I'm God’s guy”

Coach Prime urged all men to have their health checked out by a doctor at some point. “Because if it weren’t for me getting tested for something else, they wouldn’t have stumbled upon this,” he told reporters.

“Make sure you get the right care because without wonderful people like this, I probably wouldn’t be sitting here today because it grew so expeditiously.”

Sanders was also asked about what it felt like “staring death in the face” while receiving treatment for his cancer.

“I didn’t stare death in [the] face, I stared life in the face,” he replied. “I’m God’s guy. I have too much life to be thinking about death.”

Lane Kiffin Shows Love for Coach Prime’s Message

His uplifting answer received a reaction from Ole Miss Rebels coach Lane Kiffin.

“Love this!!!” Kiffin wrote on his Instagram story on Monday.

The comment comes after the coaches established a strong relationship with each other due to being two of the more prominent figures in the sport. Kiffin has previously said that he believes Sanders is “the GOAT” in the transfer portal era because he’s convinced so many talented players to join Colorado.
