The 2025 MLB trade deadline is Thursday, July 31. Follow along to see all the deals from buyers and sellers looking to improve their organizations.
The 2025 MLB trade deadline is set for Thursday, July 31, at 6 p.m. ET.
A slew of deals already went down ahead of deadline day, including the mid-June blockbuster sending All-Star slugger Rafael Devers from the Boston Red Sox to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for right-handed pitcher Jordan Hicks, lefty pitcher Kyle Harrison and a pair of prospects including outfielder James Tibbs III (the No. 13 overall pick in the 2024 draft).
With the expanded MLB playoffs including more Wild Card teams getting in, even more organizations are expected to be buyers at the deadline relative to years past.
Anyone within shouting distance of a Wild Card spot should look to add as a show of good faith to their respective fan bases, but general managers must look to the team's future, too.
Here's the latest on deals going down on deadline day (and a look at trades that have already been announced):
Seattle Mariners reunite with All-Star 3B Eugenio Suarez in trade with Arizona Diamondbacks
The writing was already on the wall that the Arizona Diamondbacks were in sell mode when they shipped upcoming free-agent first baseman Josh Naylor to the Seattle Mariners for a pair of pitching prospects. They maintained that proverbial dance partner to pull off another blockbuster trade.
According to multiple reports including ESPN's Jeff Passan, All-Star third baseman Eugenio Suarez will take his talents back to the Pacific Northwest to reunite with his old team in the Mariners and old teammate in Naylor.
The addition provides even more thump in a lineup that features MVP candidate Cal Raleigh — who has 41 homers heading into deadline day.
Suarez, with 36 homers of his own for Arizona before the trade, provides serious protection for Raleigh in the M's batting order.
Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports that the return for Arizona will be first baseman Tyler Locklear and a pair of pitching prospects.
