More injury news for DJ Lagway.
Concerning DJ Lagway News Surfaces Weeks Before College Football Season originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
As the college football season approaches, the number of injuries for Florida quarterback DJ Lagway continues to rise.
The former five-star quarterback was limited during the team's spring practice due to a lower-body injury and a shoulder injury that prevented him from throwing. Instead, the sophomore quarterback was off to the side, practicing certain movements and was limited to simple handoffs in the spring game.
On Monday, On3 reported that Lagway suffered a calf injury during one of the team's runs last week, and is now in a walking boot.
"Lagway suffered a calf injury during a team run last week and has been in a boot, the sources said," wrote On3's Zach Abolverdi. "His injury is not thought to be serious, but it’s unclear how much practice time Lagway could miss as a result — if any at all. The Gators open camp on Wednesday."
While it's positive to hear that it's not thought to be serious, Florida fans are hoping that Lagway will be able to stay healthy in what will be his first full season as the starter.
He posted a 6-0 record in 2024 in the games he started and completed with the Gators, and finished the year with 1,915 yards passing, 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Luckily for Florida, they have the luxury of a lighter opening slate as they open the year against LIU on Aug. 30. So, if Lagway does need more time to rest, the Gators can afford to give him an extra week.
