Baltimore Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely suffered an injury during practice on Tuesday. A new report suggests it's a bit worse than initially believed.
The Baltimore Ravens reportedly got less-than ideal news on tight end Isaiah Likely's injury.
According to ESPN's Jamison Hensley and Jeremy Fowler, Likely suffered a small fracture in his foot after rolling his ankle in the one-on-one period in practice on Tuesday.
The injury could sideline Likely into the start of the season, but Hensley and Fowler added that "it's possible" Likely can make it back for the Ravens' season-opener on Sept. 7 "if all goes well."
Following Likely's injury, head coach John Harbaugh said his tight end may just be out "a few weeks," but cautioned that an MRI was yet to come and the team would have more information then. Well, now we have it.
The young tight end is entering the final year of his contract and is looking to make a strong impression in order to garner a lucrative long-term deal.
Likely has been a dynamic weapon for quarterback Lamar Jackson when given looks in the offense, although he has been somewhat limited with star tight end Mark Andrews ahead of him on the depth chart.
Likely posted his best season statistically in 2024, reeling in career-highs in receptions (42), yards (477) and touchdowns (six).
However, that was still a disappointing finish for the Coastal Carolina product after he began the year by exploding for 111 receiving yards and a touchdown in Week 1.
If Likely is forced to miss games, the Ravens are still in good shape at the position thanks to the presence of Andrews and Charlie Kolar, with the latter standing to benefit most from Likely's absence with an increase in snaps.
