Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora opened up when asked about the upcoming trade deadline.
At 57-51, the Boston Red Sox hold the final Wild Card playoff spot, but with the trade deadline quickly approaching, will they be active?
The Red Sox already made arguably the biggest blockbuster trade of the season when they traded three-time All-Star Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants. Since then, the team has excelled, with young players like Roman Anthony making their impact known.
Red Sox skipper Alex Cora believes that things are "different" this season, and that the team will look to add at the trade deadline, as transcribed by MassLive's Sean McAdam.
"I think this year is a little bit different,” Cora said. "Because our pitching staff is really good. The bullpen is solid so far and we’re healthy. Last year, we were limping into the trade deadline and we tried to make a few moves here and there (with Lucas Sims and Luis Garcia), but it wasn’t adding — it was kind of substituting for the guys (Chris Martin and Justin Slaten) that were banged up.
"This year, we’re at full force in the bullpen. You saw it over the weekend, you saw it for the past month and a half. It’s one of the best units in the big leagues. If we (continue), we’re going to be OK. I think overall, we’re capable, with the team that we have, to make a run and make it to October. But as always, we have to improve certain areas."

Cora is right that Boston's pitching has been really good this season. The Red Sox's overall pitching staff ranks tenth in the league in team ERA, and is reportedly aiming to improve by adding a pitcher by the deadline.
Adding at the trade deadline could make or break how far the Red Sox could go in a potential postseason run.
