The Chicago Sky entered Sunday’s matchup against the Indiana Fever looking to halt a four-game losing streak. However, the team suffered its 18th loss of the year, losing to the Fever 93-78. The Sky were without star forward Angel Reese, sidelined for a second consecutive game due to a lingering back issue, and rookie guard Hailey Van Lith was also ruled out.
Despite the absence of Caitlin Clark, who missed the game for Indiana due to a groin injury, the Sky were outmatched from the start. The loss further exposed the team’s lack of offensive cohesion and defensive breakdowns, which have become recurring themes throughout the season.
The franchise has struggled all season and has yet to live up to its preseason hopes. With the losses now starting to pile up, calls have intensified for Chicago Sky GM Jeff Pagliocca to be removed.
Amid the intense frustration from Sky fans, WNBA reporter Karli Bell confirmed during a fan Q&A session online that Pagliocca could be on the hot seat. When asked about his job security, Bell acknowledged the mounting scrutiny surrounding his role, admitting he could be on the hot seat.

At this stage, the Sky’s playoff hopes are quickly slipping away. With only a handful of games remaining, every result carries added weight. The team next faces the Washington Mystics on Tuesday, and will hope to turn the tides around sooner than later.
In the meantime, Chicago sits 11th in the WNBA standings, with the Dallas Wings and Connecticut Suns the only teams with a worse record this season.
