Former Tennessee quarterback and NFL Hall of Famer Peyton Manning made an exciting announcement regarding his production company, Omaha Productions.

Omaha, along with rapper/actor LL Cool J’s production company Rock the Bells, joined forces to produce the hip hop docuseries Hip Hop Was Born Here.

According to Deadline, the series will chart the creation, evolution and ongoing legacy of hip hop, not just as a genre but as a culture. Viewers will be taken on a journey through hip hop history – meeting genre pioneers and future icons, visiting the neighborhoods, studios, and places that fostered early styles as well as watching beloved artists analyze their favorite tracks, according to the description.

The series will interview rap legends like Big Daddy Kane, Doug E. Fresh, Method Man, Remy Ma, Salt N Pepa and more to round out the series.

Manning released a statement on this new venture.

“We were lucky to partner with Todd [LL Cool J] , Rock the Bells, and Paramount on Hip Hop Was Born Here, said Manning in a statement. “Music is far from my area of expertise, but sports and music have a lot of similarities. Both require hard work and commitment, and at their best, both bring people together. The story of hip hop, especially in New York City, is an important one to tell, and there’s no one better than Todd to tell it.”

Manning’s production company also produces Quarterback, which can be seen on Netflix, On the Clock, which is about the NFL Draft, Starting Five, and Full Court Press. They also do podcasts and commercials.

This will be the company’s first time diving into the world of hip hop but you have to believe if this series is successful, this won’t be the last time they will do a deep dive into the world of hip hop.

The series can be seen now on Paramount.
