The New York Jets kicked off their training camp on Tuesday and officially held their first sessions under new head coach Aaron Glenn at Florham Park throughout the week.

Although many of the new Jets leaders, including their coach and new quarterback Justin Fields, arrived from outside, running back Breece Hall is entering his fourth and final year under contract with New York as the team's RB1.

Hall, however, understands exactly where he stands in the eyes of the Jets' new front office — and he’s not sugarcoating it.

"I'm not really expecting (a contract extension offer) before the season," Hall said on Saturday. "We got a new head coach, a new GM. Obviously, I wasn’t drafted by them, I’m not their guy. I gotta prove it every day."

Contrary to fellow 2022 draft classmates Garrett Wilson and Sauce Gardner, top 10 picks who both landed major extensions from the Jets just a few days ago, Hall is still waiting for his new deal.

Despite showing promise in spurts, Hall acknowledged his résumé doesn’t yet stack up to those of Gardner and Wilson.

Hall's career highs include 994 rushing yards and 591 receiving yards, both from the 2023 season, but his numbers dropped last year as he fell to 876 rushing yards and 483 receiving yards. That said, he put up as many rushing touchdowns as the year before, scoring five each season. His receiving touchdowns dropped from four to three.

The Jets rusher has never topped 1,000 rushing yards in a single campaign and saw reduced usage, getting 266 touches in 2024 to the 299 he got the year before.

"For me it’s always been, ‘Oh he has potential, he’s got potential,’ but I want to be the product," Hall said. "Now, it’s all about putting my head down and working."

Hall missed time during his rookie season, which was derailed by an ACL injury. His production hasn't fully bounced back since then, but he said he believes offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand’s new scheme will play to his strengths.

"I got a chip on my shoulder," Hall said. "I feel like right now, ‘OK this is my last chance.’"
