2025 WHL Prospect Pools: Los Angeles Kings

Welcome to this edition of the 2025 WHL Prospect Pools. Throughout the 2025 off-season, we will be taking a look at current or recently graduated WHLers who have either been drafted or signed by NHL clubs. Today's organization is the Los Angeles Kings, which has two WHLers in its prospect pool. 

The Kings' WHL prospect pool consists of one current defenseman and a forward who has just completed his junior career. L.A. drafted Prince George Cougars' Koehn Ziemmer back in 2023 during the third round, while adding Kelowna Rockets Will Sharpe in the seventh round of this year's draft. The Kings also have defenceman Jakub Dvořák in their system, who played for the Swift Current Broncos during the 2023-24 season. 

Starting with Ziemmer, he had yet another productive season with 71 points in 61 games. The 20-year-old winger also became the Cougars' all-time leader in goals and sits second in all-time points with Prince George. Listed at 6'1", 201 lbs, Ziemmer will be headed to the AHL full-time next year. 

As for Sharpe, he split the 2024-25 campaign between Kelowna and the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The 18-year-old defenceman recorded 44 points in 66 games with 14 of his 35 assists coming on the power play. Listed at 6'1", 195 lbs, Sharpe will be playing a big role for the Rockets as they prepare to host the 2026 Memorial Cup.
