Adam Schefter sheds light on mystery incident involving Christian Wilkins, Raiders teammate

After much rumor and speculation, Adam Schefter has revealed what the mystery incident was between Christian Wilkins and a Las Vegas Raiders teammate that may have played a part in his release.

There have been rumors floating around that Christian Wilkins was involved in some kind of incident with a teammate before his release from the Las Vegas Raiders that may have contributed to the team parting ways with him.

NFL insider Josina Anderson was the first to report it, as far as we can tell, but she did not go into specifics for what actually occurred. Anderson said an "incident involving a teammate" might have been part of the reason the Raiders cut Wilkins loose instead of the decision being strictly about his and the team's disagreement on how to approach his injured foot.

On Monday, ESPN's Adam Schefter gave details on what exactly happened. Schefter reports that Wilkins kissed an unnamed teammate on the head, and that teammate didn't take kindly to the gesture.

"When you speak to people there inside the locker room, they say that Christian playfully went to kiss a teammate on top of his head," Schefter said.

"And those same people said that player took offense to it," Schefter added.

Schefter did not say how much the incident played a role in Wilkins' release, but he did confirm those were the details behind the rumor.

Upon releasing Wilkins, the Raiders also voided $35.2 million in guarantees left on his contract, which was signed in 2024. The NFLPA has since filed a grievance on Wilkins' behalf and it appears there will be a battle between the two sides.
