The Packers have been predicted to trade one of their WRs due to high numbers. They may have a potential deal locked up for Romeo Doubs.
The Green Bay Packers have one of the deepest wide receiver rooms in the NFL. With so many players vying for limited spots on the 53-man roster, it's becoming increasingly difficult for some to carve out a role. Rookie receiver Matthew Golden has been turning heads early in camp, and his emergence could push a veteran out via trade.
"The Packers picked the fastest receiver in the draft, Matthew Golden, and early returns from Green Bay say the rookie’s overall athleticism has already shown up," Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer wrote. "It’ll be interesting to see whether a veteran receiver shakes free in a trade based on Golden’s development."
One name frequently mentioned in trade rumors is Romeo Doubs. Among several reported scenarios, one rumor linked him to the Los Angeles Chargers.
“The Green Bay Packers would undoubtedly love to keep Romeo Doubs and haven't indicated any intention to trade him, but it's time they did. Now, the perfect destination has emerged. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams is surprisingly retiring from the NFL. It's a decision few saw coming, and it leaves the Chargers with a potential problem at wide receiver,” Lombardi Ave’s Freddie Boston wrote.
Adding to speculation, Doubs posted a cryptic message last week that many interpreted as a sign he may be the odd man out in Green Bay. He’s also been mentioned in another potential deal—this time to the New England Patriots.
“The Pats probably would not have to surrender that much to acquire Doubs. A fourth-round pick may actually do the trick, but perhaps the Packers would be stubborn and hold it for a third-rounder. Even still, that may not be a bad trade for the Patriots given Doubs' talent level,” Sports Illustrated’s Matthew Schmidt wrote.

Doubs seems to be the unfortunate candidate to be moved, though it might be a positive shift for him. A trade could offer a fresh start and more playing time—something Doubs may well benefit from at this stage in his career.
