Here's the list of five games that could define Liverpool's 2025/26 season.
Liverpool were crowned champions of the 2024/25 Premier League.
While they were able to bring back the league trophy to Anfield for the first time since the 2019/20 season, the Reds did not experience much success in other competitions.
Liverpool have made significant additions to their squad in the ongoing summer window in order to bolster it for the upcoming campaign.
The Reds would be looking to defend their league title as well as win other domestic competitions and the Champions League in the 2025/26 season. However, some matches could play a significant role in Arne Slot's squad achieving their goals.
The Sporting News takes a look at the five league fixtures that could define Liverpool's upcoming league season.
Chelsea (Away) - October 04, 2025
Liverpool did not have a lot of luck when it came to their odds in a clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Both teams have faced each other in 66 Premier League matches, with the Reds winning 25 of them while the Blues secured 22 victories.

However, Liverpool have only managed eight wins at Chelsea's home ground, where the Blues have bagged 15 victories, and the remaining 10 games ended in a draw.
Liverpool's first league match against Chelsea in the 2025/26 season is slated for October 4 at Stamford Bridge, and Slot's squad will be looking to walk away with three points by the end of the clash.
Manchester United (Home) - October 18, 2025
The Northwest derby has always been a charged affair, with Liverpool and Man United's historical rivalry.
Despite their struggles in recent years, Man United still have a good record against Liverpool in the Premier League, with 29 victories in 66 matches compared to the Reds' 20 wins.
Liverpool will face Man United for the first time in next season's Premier League on October 18, at Anfield, which has not been an easy trip for the opponents.
Both Liverpool and Man United have secured 12 victories in 33 matches held at Anfield, with the remaining nine ending in draws.
Liverpool will be hoping to bag a win in the first Northwest derby of the 2025/26 campaign and assert dominance against their archrivals.
Manchester City (Away) - November 08, 2025
While Liverpool will be attempting to reclaim the Premier League title this upcoming season, Man City will be pushing to get back to their winning ways after their underwhelming 2024/25 campaign.
Despite having an overall good record against Man City in the Premier League, Liverpool have managed to win only five games in 28 games at the Etihad Stadium.
City, meanwhile, have bagged 10 wins against the Reds at home with the remaining 13 matches ending in a tie.
Liverpool will be making their trip to the Etihad to face Man City on November 8, where the Reds will be focused on getting one up against their potential title contenders.
Arsenal (Away) - January 08, 2026
Arsenal have been runners-up in the Premier League for the last three seasons. With significant additions in the ongoing summer transfer window, the Gunners are expected to give it all to lift the trophy this term.
Arsenal's ambitions in the league could be a threat to the reigning champions. However, the clash between the two English clubs is anticipated to be a great match to witness.
Liverpool are set to face Arsenal on January 8, 2026, at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners' home ground has not been the Reds' favourite with nine wins in 33 league games.
Arsenal have won only three more than Liverpool at home, making this upcoming match a potential nail-biter.
Everton (Away) - April 18, 2026
The Merseyside derby is undoubtedly one of the biggest historical rivalries in English football.
The second and last Merseyside derby of the 2025/26 Premier League season will be held on April 18, 2026, at Everton's new home ground, Hill Dickinson Stadium.
While Liverpool have had a run against Everton at Goodison Park with 11 victories in 33 matches, and the home side securing eight wins, it remains to be seen how the odds are for the Reds at the Toffees' new ground.
