He did not mince words.

The Chicago Sky did not have the services of Angel Reese on Thursday night against the Seattle Storm as the two-time All-Star sat out with a back injury. Without their star forward, the Sky got utterly humiliated on their own home floor as the Storm secured a dominant 95-57 blowout win at Wintrust Arena.

Sky Coach Tyler Marsh Speaks Out After Storm Loss

The 38-point defeat marks Chicago’s worst loss of the season. Head coach Tyler Marsh spoke to reporters after the game to try to make sense of what had just transpired.

The rookie shot-caller refused to make any excuses for his team. Apart from Reese, Ariel Atkins and Michaela Onyenwere were also out of commission against Seattle with respective injuries. Marsh, however, does not believe that injuries were the main issue for the Sky.

"You always have the personnel to compete,” he said during his postgame press conference, via Sky reporter Karli Bell on X. “It's not a talent thing right now. We're looking for fight. Competing is what we're looking for.

"… Right now, we're looking to get back to that mindset of competing regardless of who we're down with. We're not doing a good enough job of competing right now."

Marsh Rallies the Troops

Marsh did not mince words after watching his team suffer an embarrassing loss in front of their home fans. The 37-year-old coach is now urging his players to show more determination, despite their current injury crisis.

"The messaging is compete,” he said. “We have to find that will to compete and that's been difficult. We have to dig in and find that."

Will Angel Reese Be Ready for the Fever Game?

Up next for the Sky is a highly anticipated rivalry showdown against the Indiana Fever on Sunday. This presents an excellent opportunity for Chicago to erase the bad taste in their mouth following Thursday’s shellacking.

Reese’s back issue does not seem to be serious. She was a late scratch for the Storm game after initially being tagged as questionable to play, which means that there’s a good chance that she will be back for Sunday’s clash.

Atkins (leg) and Onyenwere (knee), however, seem to be dealing with more concerning injuries. They’ve been sidelined for three and two straight games, respectively, and are in danger of missing the Fever game as well.

As for Indiana, Caitlin Clark is likely to watch the game from the bench after the team announced on Thursday that the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year still has no timetable for her return from a re-aggravated groin injury.
