Miami Dolphins, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick have a new deal covering two years

The Miami Dolphins and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick have a new deal.

The Miami Dolphins and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick have agreed to a two-year deal that guarantees him about $17.5 million this season while giving the club salary cap relief.

The contract converts his 2025 salary into a signing bonus while sliding $2 million up from his 2026 deal to the 2025 season.

Fitzpatrick, acquired in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers that satisfied cornerback Jalen Ramsey’s desire to leave Miami, also is due $15.6 million next year as the new leader in the secondary.

NFL Network said the contract will clear approximately $11 million in cap space for the Dolphins, who had been up against the league’s salary cap.

Fitzpatrick is now represented by Drew Rosenhaus, who also is trying to secure a raise for team MVP Zach Sieler.

Rosenhaus attended this weekend’s practice as Fitzpatrick made an acrobatic interception, the first such takeaway for Miami’s defense this training camp.
