Jerry Jones has been anything but low-key this offseason. The Dallas Cowboys owner has stirred the pot with headline-making comments, feuding not just with his newly minted highest-paid quarterback but also taking subtle jabs at defensive star Micah Parsons, who’s still waiting on a new deal.

That kind of public tension could rattle a locker room, especially when it involves two of your biggest names. Former NFL quarterback and media personality Robert Griffin III, who played against Jones’ Cowboys several times during his brief career, couldn't help himself and took a shot at the owner Thursday in a sarcastic post on X.

“Jerry Jones calling out Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons accidentally created a stronger locker room with Micah emerging as a more poised vocal leader and CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens speaking out about how close they are. That’s some serious 4D chess BIG BRAIN thinking Jerry.”

Griffin later clarified in a subsequent tweet that he was being sarcastic. But he's far from alone in giving the side eye to the Cowboys' front office, which has watched as Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns and J.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers have signed new deals worth at least $40 million per season. Those deals for two of the NFL's star defensive players have only raised the bar for what Dallas will likely need to spend to keep Parsons.

Jones kicked off Cowboys training camp with some eyebrow-raising commentary that immediately stirred things up. Flanked by Stephen Jones and head coach Brian Schottenheimer, Jerry didn’t hold back; he took subtle (and not-so-subtle) shots at Parsons, Dak Prescott, Trevon Diggs and Terence Steele.

He questioned past contract extensions, expressed frustration over injuries and casually admitted he hadn’t spoken to Parsons’ agent about a new deal even though Parsons had reposted a pointed J.J. Watt tweet in response.

Jerry’s message was clear: “I sign the check. Period.”

It's unknown how this is going over in the Cowboys' locker room. But the front office’s refusal to engage with Parsons' agent only added to the tension.

The result is the usual drama that has surrounded the organization throughout Jones' more than three decades as owner of the NFL's most valuable franchise.
