The Denver Broncos drafted offensive lineman Quinn Meinerz in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The offensive lineman caught everyone's eye in the draft process with his workout videos in the woods, lifting and chopping trees.
However, from the woods to the field, the Broncos' third-round pick had quickly become one of the best right guards in the NFL. Meinerz saw action right away as a rookie, playing in 15 games and starting nine of them in 2021.
The Wisconsin-Whitewater product played center his rookie year before moving to right guard. Meinerz has started all 17 games for the Broncos the last two years and was named an All-Pro in 2024.
As Broncos' training camp got underway this week, Meinerz spoke with the media Thursday morning and revealed a bold goal for the 2025 season after being named an All-Pro last year.

"I'm trying to create a gap of being the best and I can improve in all phases and continue to be more consistent. That's a big feedback part at the end of the season is, you know what I like to have with my coaches," Meinerz said. "There's still a lot I can do to improve in the run game specifically, and every single year you have keep sharpening pass (protection), because these guys are incredible athletes out there across the entire defensive line.
"So it's an uphill battle every single year. But I feel really great about the teammates that I have to push me to be the best along with our coaching staff."
Meinerz didn't come from a Power Five school or even a Division I school; Wisconsin-Whitewater is a Division III football program. But the Broncos' front office saw something in Meinerz, and it's paying off now.
DNVR Broncos Podcast host Ryan Koenigsberg shared a story from the night the Broncos drafted Meinerz that other front offices across the NFL were laughing at the Broncos for the pick. They thought the Broncos were getting fooled by the offensive lineman's workout videos on social media. Four years later, the Broncos have an All-Pro right guard protecting their franchise quarterback.

In addition to his own personal goals in 2025, Meinerz also discussed his unit's job of making quarterback Bo Nix feel comfortable and the command Nix took of the offense from the jump.
"Yeah, it was kind of his team when we got here, and you know, as our job as the offensive line is to make him feel comfortable, you know, on the field, off the field, and he's done a great job himself, preparing for, you know, his moments," Meinerz said. "I think we've all done our job around him to make him feel comfortable, players and staff to continue to be behind him and let Bo Nix be Bo Nix."
The Broncos did just that in 2024, as Nix led Denver to the playoffs for the first time in nine years. But now, the goal is to be even better in 2025. The Broncos haven't won a playoff game in 10 years, the last time they won the Super Bowl.
Meinerz made it clear the Broncos aren't focused on any other teams or the outside noise, just getting better.
"I'm not looking at any teams right now. I'm focusing on this Denver Broncos team right now that we're trying to develop. There is not anything we're circling anywhere on anything, that is for you guys to do. That is not what we do. This is the storylines that you guys want. We're not taking any of that cheese," Meinerz said. "We're here to work and we're here to become better. And that's just the bottom line. You know, a lot of people have been sleeping on us, and that's okay, we know who we are. And that's pretty much it."
Meinerz displayed a no-nonsense attitude when speaking with the media Thursday morning, and you could tell by his body language he was serious and ready to work.
There's a lot of expectation around the Broncos in 2025, and that starts with the play of Nix under center. But the most important factor behind Nix's play is the offensive line's ability to protect him and make him feel comfortable.
