If there’s one thing Kansas City Chiefs fans have learned over the years, it’s that this team knows how to bounce back. After falling just short of making NFL history with a three-peat last season thanks to Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles crashing the party, Kansas City has been on a mission to reclaim the crown.

With a solid offseason and plenty of momentum, everything seemed to be lining up for another big run. But just as excitement was building for a Friday showcase, fans were hit with some frustrating news that put a damper on the day.

Friday morning brought some disappointment for Chiefs fans hoping to catch Day 4 of training camp. Just before the 9:15 a.m. practice was set to begin, the team pushed out an update through the Chiefs Mobile App, letting everyone know that the session at Missouri Western State University would be closed to the public.

The reason? Heavy rain and flooding in the St. Joseph area made conditions unsafe. Definitely not the kind of Friday update fans were hoping for.

The Chiefs have been spending big this offseason, locking down key pieces and investing in their homegrown talent. After extending guard Trey Smith and EDGE George Karlaftis, it looks like cornerback Trent McDuffie could be next in line.

He’s entering the final stretch of his rookie deal, and the team already picked up his fifth-year option. According to ESPN’s Nate Taylor, the Chiefs are hoping to get an extension done soon, possibly one that tops Sauce Gardner’s massive $120.4 million extension, with $85 million guaranteed, with the New York Jets. Given McDuffie’s All-Pro resume, a record-breaking contract wouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
