Aaron Rodgers responds to Terry Bradshaw's 'chew on bark' comments

Pittsburgh Steelers legend Terry Bradshaw had some harsh comments on Aaron Rodgers before he signed with the team. Now, Rodgers has responded for the first time since joining the Steelers.

Before he signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, we all had to go through the Aaron Rodgers waiting game.

The future Hall of Famer took quite awhile to finally announce his decision to sign with the team, which obviously left many frustrated, including Steelers legend Terry Bradshaw.

"That's a joke. That to me is just a joke," Bradshaw said of the Steelers' interest in Rodgers on 103.7 The Buzz back in May. "What are you gonna do? Bring him in for one year, are you kidding me?

"That guy needs to stay in California. Go somewhere and chew on bark and whisper to the gods out there," he concluded.

Much to Bradshaw's chagrin, it does look like the Steelers are going to bring him in for one season, as Rodgers hinted he would retire after 2025.

Rodgers hadn't addressed the situation since signing in Pittsburgh, but that ended on Saturday when Rodgers spoke to NFL Network's Kyle Brandt about Bradshaw's comments.

"I've known Terry for a long time, being a part of FOX," Rodgers said. "Terry's a legend. He's an absolute legend. He won four Super Bowls. He's had a legendary career in the media.

"But Terry, like a lot of people, doesn't know me. So he's got an idea of what he thinks about me based on what I've done, the documentary, what I've said, darkness retreat, whatever the hell you want to talk about."

Rodgers added that he'd "love to get to know Terry on a deeper level" and believes that if the Hall of Famer did get to know him "we'd have a good friendship because for me I have nothing but the utmost amount of respect and deference for what the greats have done because they laid the foundation for us to be able to play in this great game."

Considering the love and respect Steelers fans have for Bradshaw, Rodgers needed to approach this situation carefully — and he did exactly that. Nothing he said was out of bounds.

Whether or not Bradshaw takes Rodgers up on his offer remains to be seen, but the ball is in the four-time Super Bowl champion's court.
