The Diamondbacks are set to deal outfielder Randal Grichuk to the Kansas City Royals, a source told The Republic.
PITTSBURGH — The Diamondbacks have traded outfielder Randal Grichuk to the Kansas City Royals, a source said, the second veteran position player the club has dealt ahead of next week’s trade deadline.
The players coming back in the deal are not yet known.
Grichuk is hitting .240 with seven homers and a .734 OPS in 175 at-bats.
The Royals have one of the least productive offensive outfields in the majors and Grichuk could provide a boost, at least against left-handed pitching.
The deal comes on the heels of Arizona dealing first-baseman Josh Naylor to the Seattle Mariners earlier this week.
