An Algeria national team player sidelined!
The Himad Abdelli saga has taken a sharper turn as the winter transfer window progresses. After being linked with Olympique de Marseille, the attacking midfielder now finds himself at the heart of a standoff with Angers SCO, where tensions are rising between sporting priorities, financial interests, and his clear desire to leave.
Sidelined and locked in a power struggle
Absent from the squad during the heavy defeat against Marseille, Abdelli was subsequently dropped from first-team training. According to local media, he is now training with the reserves under the supervision of Anthar Yahia. Officially, his coach Alexandre Dujeux justified his absence by stating that he was "not 100% fit to play," but behind the scenes, contract issues are weighing heavily.
With just six months left on his contract, the Algerian international has already agreed terms with OM, while the Marseille club has submitted an initial offer worth two million euros, bonuses included. Angers, however, considers this bid insufficient and is demanding double that amount. Sporting director Laurent Boissier admitted candidly:
This saga is far from over.
