The Auburn Tigers have their new starting quarterback.

On Thursday, Auburn's official social media account posted a spotlight on their blue home threads, worn by quarterback Jackson Arnold, with the simple caption 'QB1.'

The Tigers, or at least their social media account, named Arnold the starting signal caller, carrying the universally recognized leadership tag of QB1. The post comes on the heels of college football analyst Josh Pate questioning the validity of Arnold being the starting quarterback of Auburn.

Pate indicated earlier this week that Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze instructed his defense to alter their scheme to help Arnold and "boost his confidence."

Pate further discussed his outlook on Auburn if Arnold enters the year lacking confidence, a disastrous trait that could spell catastrophe during the team's season opener on the road against the Baylor Bears.

Nevertheless, Auburn is full steam ahead with Arnold as their lead man.

Last season, the 2023 five-star recruit threw for 1,421 yards and 12 touchdowns against three interceptions across ten outings. Arnold also rushed for 444 yards and three scores. His best outing came against the Alabama Crimson Tide late in the year, completing 82% of his passes while rushing for 131 yards. It was a big step forward for Arnold following a midseason benching.

This season, Arnold will look to lead an Auburn team fresh off a 5-7 season and a fifth straight campaign failing to eclipse six wins. Alongside Arnold will be wide receiver Cam Coleman, a five-star recruit in the 2024 class that finished last year tied for the team lead in receiving touchdowns with eight.
