Mike McDaniel withdraws from Cleveland Browns coaching search

The dream is still alive for now

Tom Pelissero is reporting that Mike McDaniel has withdrawn from consideration for the Cleveland Browns head coaching search. He was scheduled to have an in-person interview in Cleveland tomorrow. Pelissero says that McDaniel is still in the running for head coaching vacancies with the Baltimore Ravens and Las Vegas Raiders.

McDaniel is interviewing for the offensive coordinator position with the Los Angeles Chargers today and has “multiple OC offers,” according to Pelissero. Is one of those with the Tennessee Titans? Hopefully!

We know that Saleh and McDaniel have a good relationship. Is that going to be enough to persuade McDaniel to come to the Titans over teams that currently have a lot more talent than the Titans?

I would think one thing that would be attractive about the OC job here for a guy like McDaniel is that Saleh would probably basically let him be the head coach of the offense. Sure, Saleh will have things that he wants done, but he would probably leave that side of the ball up to McDaniel. That wouldn’t be the case with a guy like Jim Harbaugh in LA.
