The Michigan Wolverines were forced to make due without much of a passing game last season as Davis Warren and Alex Orji struggled to throw the ball beyond 10 yards and Jack Tuttle struggled with turnovers and injuries. The result was an uneven 8-5 season that could have been much worse if not for the resurgence of a running game led by unlikely heroes Kalel Mullings and Jordan Marshall. The Wolverines' running game will likely be a major focus of opposing teams this season with Bryce Underwood the likely, inexperienced freshman starter at quarterback.

On Thursday, comments surfaced from a Wolverines fifth year senior about the running game that will likely have Wolverines fans feeling excited.
"The running backs are unbelievable," fifth year Michigan fullback/tight end Max Bredeson said at Big Ten Media Days.
"But it's just, you go position to position, I think the biggest thing isn't just about guys, it's just about a hunger. It has more to do with how hard you're playing than it has to do with X's and O's. I think it's just because of what happened last year.
"You'll see a better outcome this time."
Michigan's backfield is expected to be led by Jordan Marshall, who starred in last year's ReliaQuest Bowl, and Justice Haynes, a former five-star and Alabama Crimson Tide transfer who could be Michigan's best run-pass threat out of the backfield in years.
