Former Colorado star Shedeur Sanders is putting in extra work to earn a roster spot on the Cleveland Browns.
Shedeur Sanders is doing all he can to earn a roster spot on the Cleveland Browns.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler caught Sanders getting in some extra work after Saturday's practice. Fowler even added that Sanders was one of the last players off the field.
"Here at Browns camp, Shedeur Sanders was one of the last off the field, throwing with a receiver a half-hour after practice ended. Kevin Stefanski has lauded the work ethic of both rookies, Dillon Gabriel and Sanders," Fowler wrote on X.
Sanders has an uphill battle to earn playing time with the Browns in his rookie season, as the Colorado product is in a four-way competition for the starting spot and was a Day 3 pick in April's draft.
However, Sanders is making strides in camp, and according to Browns reporter Grant Puskar, Saturday's practice was a breakout day for the 23-year-old signal-caller.
"Browns Shedeur Sanders led all QBs with three touchdowns today in camp. By far the best he has looked yet. Breakout day for 12," Puskar wrote.
Additionally, Garrett Bush of the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show added that Sanders took team reps ahead of Dillon Gabriel on Saturday.
"Shedeur Sanders gets teams reps and pays it off with a nice 32 yard TD pass to Floriea. First time Shadeur has taken team reps ahead of Dillon Gabriel," Bush wrote.
Sanders is growing right in front of our eyes and is making a strong early case to be on Cleveland's initial 53-man roster.
