The Miami Dolphins get a horrible injury update for free agent cornerback Artie Burns, as an MRI confirmed he tore his ACL at the start of training camp.
MRI Reveals Dolphins' Artie Burns Tore His ACL at Start of Training Camp originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
After the Miami Dolphins traded Jalen Ramsey, the cornerback room was severely lacking in depth. But the team did have a few players on the roster who were expected to contribute in the upcoming 2025 season.
However, at the beginning of training camp, the Dolphins saw one of their potential starting cornerbacks go down with an injury. That player was Artie Burns, and there was fear that the injury was a bad one.
Unfortunately, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, those fears came true. An MRI confirmed that Burns suffered a torn ACL, and he will miss the entire 2025 season.

The Dolphins are now down another cornerback, further depleting an already weak cornerback room. Burns wasn’t slotted in as a starter, with Storm Duck, Kader Kohou, and Cam Smith the projected starters.
But his absence will be missed, and it further signifies how desperately the team needs to bring in more cornerback help before the 2025 regular season begins.
Miami did bring in Cornell Armstrong, who was initially drafted by the Dolphins in 2018. But even with that signing, the team still needs to bolster the cornerback room.
There are still interesting options for Miami to target. Asante Samuel Jr. and Rasul Douglas are two names to watch. But, regardless of who the team targets, the Dolphins need to bring in another cornerback before the season kicks off.
Burns signed with the Dolphins for one year at $1.355 million. He didn’t play much for the Seattle Seahawks in 2024, but was projected to be a valuable depth piece in the Dolphins’ defense.
Now, instead of suiting up for the Dolphins, the 30-year-old Burns will have to spend time recovering from a brutal torn ACL injury he suffered at the start of training camp.
