Theresa Plaisance jokes about Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd’s now-public relationship secrecy.
Former Storm Player Sends Blunt Message About Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd Relationship originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
WNBA veteran Theresa Plaisance isn’t one to shy away from keeping it real, and during a recent episode of her new "Unsupervised" podcast with co-host Sydney Colson, she offered a hilariously blunt take on Paige Bueckers' and Azzi Fudd’s now-public relationship.
“What I want everyone to take from this [WNBA All-Star Game] weekend — make sure if you do have a secret, the only person that can hold a secret is yourself … and the UConn women’s basketball team,” Plaisance said. “Shoutout to them. Because we all heard the speculation.”
This follows Bueckers' official confirmation of what many fans had long suspected: She and her former UConn teammate, Fudd, are indeed dating.
The relationship, once a source of social media buzz and speculation, went public after Bueckers was asked about her “D1 Girlfriend” during All-Star Weekend. Fudd added fuel to the fire by posting a photo with a phone case that read: “Paige Bueckers’ girlfriend.”
Plaisance, a WNBA champion in 2022 with the Las Vegas Aces and last with the Seattle Storm in 2023, joked that UConn must’ve paid its players “under the table” to keep the relationship under wraps for so long. And honestly, the secrecy was impressive.
Despite being two of the biggest names in women’s college basketball, Bueckers and Fudd managed to keep things private until now.
While the reveal made headlines, Bueckers is already shining in her rookie WNBA season with the Dallas Wings. She’s averaging 18.2 points, 5.5 assists, 4 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game and recently became the fastest player in league history to hit 200 points and 50 assists in just 11 games. She’s the clear favorite for Rookie of the Year.
Fudd, who’s returning to UConn for a fifth season, could join Bueckers in Dallas next year. If that happens, expect WNBA fans and Plaisance to have plenty to talk about.
