It has been an offseason full of change for the Phoenix Suns as they have completely revamped their roster after failing to make the playoffs last season.
Phoenix entered the offseason with a clear goal in mind to retool their roster around Devin Booker as they looked to split up their big three.
They have done just that as they traded Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets and bought out Bradley Beal’s contract which allowed him to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers.
In the Durant trade, Phoenix received Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks and draft capital in return, including the pick they used to select Khaman Maluach 10th overall in the 2025 draft.
Phoenix also selected Rasheer Fleming and Koby Brea during the 2025 NBA Draft and they also acquired Mark Williams from the Charlotte Hornets via trade.
With this new-look lineup, the Suns have completely revamped their roster and they received a major update on Thursday regarding their starting lineup heading into next season.
According to Suns insider John Gambadoro, the plan for the Suns will likely be to start Green at point guard next season instead of Booker with Collin Gillespie being the backup point guard.

Gambadoro also mentioned in his report that Jordan Goodwin and Jared Butler, both of whom were signed on Wednesday, will battle it out for the third point guard spot on the roster.
This is a massive report by Gambadoro as Green will now shift to becoming a full-time point guard in Phoenix instead of being in his usual shooting guard role due to Booker.
For Green, he has been a solid playmaker over his NBA career, though he still needs to improve on some areas and it will likely be a steep learning curve for him next season.
Despite this, Green is still only 23 years old and he proved in Houston that he is a potential star in the making that is set to be a key piece of the Suns’ future.
