With around a year and a half left on his contract with RB Leipzig, club captain David Raum is in no rush to discuss a new deal.
Asked by Bulinews.com during a media round if he has held any talks with the club about a potential contract extension, Raum replied:
"No, not yet. I just focus on my game and my new role at the club (as captain, editor's note). I have a contract beyond this season, so there's no hurry at the moment.
"If the club comes to me, of course we can sit together and talk about it, but at the moment it's not a big topic.
"I'm very happy here at the moment and have a clear goal with the team this season, and that's all I focus on. Playing at my second World Cup after the season is another goal I have, and then we'll see after that."
Looking further ahead, Raum revealed that he's “a big fan” of the United States and that he could see himself playing in the MLS towards the end of his career.
"I've been on holiday there a few times in the last couple of years," the left-back said.
"I can imagine playing in the US for a little bit in the last years of my career. I've also been talking to my wife about maybe living in the US after my career, but let's see.”
Raum, 27, joined RB Leipzig from Hoffenheim in 2022 on a contract running until 2027. Since then, he has made 128 appearances for the club, scoring six goals and providing 25 assists.
