Arizona men’s tennis will play its first match of the spring calendar with a top-25 showdown at Oklahoma on Friday. The No. 11 Wildcats take on the No. 21 Sooners at 5 p.m. MST.

Arizona is coming off a 25-6 season that ended in the Sweet 16. Arizona is led by No. 4 ranked singles player Jay Friend, a 2025 First-Team All-American. Three other Wildcats are also ranked in singles: No. 58 Filip Gustafsson, No. 106 Mattias Uwe Kask and No. 107 Pepjin Bastiaansen.

Arizona faces an Oklahoma team that reached the second round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament.

Several Wildcats competed last week at the Hidden Dual in Boca Raton, Florida. Alexander Rozin won Big 12 Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for his performance in the Sunshine State. Rozin went 3-0 in singles, defeating No. 7 Max Dahlin of Michigan in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4.

The UA opens its home slate on Monday when it hosts New Mexico State in a doubleheader. The first match is at 9 a.m.

Women’s tennis

Women’s tennis begins its spring season with four home meets over the next several days.

Arizona takes on UC Davis and UC San Diego on Friday, then faces No. 19 USC and NAU on Monday.

The Trojans will serve as a good litmus test for the Wildcats. USC features five ranked singles players and one of the top doubles pairs. The former Pac-12 programs have faced each other 42 times, with USC winning the most recent match in 2022 by a score of 5-2.

Arizona is led by junior Josie Usereau and senior Tanvi Narendran. The Wildcats were picked to finish sixth in the Big 12 preseason poll.

Swimming and diving

Swimming and diving heads to Tempe this weekend to compete at the Big 12 West Championships. ASU, BYU, Kansas and Utah will also be competing at the meet, which is different than the Big 12 Conference Championship.

Competition gets underway at 10 a.m. Friday, followed by an evening session beginning 5 p.m. The meet wraps up Saturday with a 10 a.m. start time.

Arizona men’s and women’s teams are ranked nationally heading into the final month of the regular season.

Track and field

The indoor track and field season kicks into full gear this weekend as Arizona travels to Lubbock, Texas for the Corky Classic. Competition begins Friday and runs through Saturday. The meet will be streamed on ESPN+.

Arizona is coming off a strong showing at the Friday Night Axe ‘Em Open in Flagstaff where the team recorded four event wins and 13 top three-finishes.

Arizona swept the podium in the women’s high jump, with Emma Gates taking gold, while Paris Mikinski and Kya Crooke won silver and bronze.

Gates’ clearance of 1.89 meters was the No. 1 mark in the NCAA this season.
