Bayern's #8 shirt may be available soon.
Leon Goretzka has been struggling this season. Bayern Munich’s #8 has been relegated to the bench during the Bavarians’ big Champions League matches in favor of young upstart Aleksandar Pavlović and even lost his place to Tom Bischof in a recent 8-1 victory over VfL Wolfsburg. This, added to the persistent rumors that Bayern see offloading Goretzka’s contract as a good way to achieve the big goal of a reduction in wages, sees the 2020 sextuple winner on the fringes heading into the final 6 months of his contract.
Usually, that kind of situation only has one outcome. And increasingly, it seems Goretzka will be facing that same outcome. Bild reports, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, that he could be leaving soon:
Leon Goretzka’s summer departure is getting more and more concrete. The club’s bosses have signalled to Goretzka’s management that the tendency is towards not offering him a new deal, even though the talks have yet to be concluded.
If he were to leave in the summer, the German will have completed eight years at Die Rekordmeister. No matter what happens, Goretzka leaves behind a rich legacy at the club.
